When teaching my math lesson to my first graders and then having my blue group work to complete a PowerPoint presentation for all students to view and work through, I was constantly reminded of the Digital Citizenship assignment that was completed in ED 505. In that assignment we had to complete various requirements that gave information on digital citizenship, safely using Internet, copyright laws, technology use policy, classroom technology rules, and several other areas.
For my class, I focused and reflected on the classroom technology rules that helped establish my classroom management plans with technology. Being that all my students are equipped with Ipads, this is something I have been teaching since day 1. I have my students set up in Apple Classroom in order for me to watch their every move on their Ipad and even push out assignments to them as well as lock them in on certain pages. Through our technology rules, I am to talk with my students about safe communication on the Internet, legal and ethical principles of digital citizenship, equitable access, digital etiquette, and responsible online social interactions in our culture including respect for copyright, the appropriate documentation of sources, and Internet usage policies.
As I stated before, classroom management and having technology rules plays a big role in my student’s technology usage and they know right from wrong when using their technology.
